Director of Accounting
State of Delaware – Department of Finance
The Department of Finance seeks a Director for the Division of Accounting who will provide statewide leadership, direction and management of accounting, payroll compliance, internal control and financial reporting for all state organizations including school districts and higher education. The Director of Accounting position ensures the provision of timely and accurate financial information to management and the public, including the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), the official audited financial statements of the State. The position leads the State’s payroll compliance initiative ensuring statewide adherence to IRS code and other regulatory standards. The position oversees the financial portion of the State of Delaware Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system consisting of thirteen modules recording the assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenditures of state organizations. The position also works with the ERP Modernization team currently developing an RFP for a new system to be implemented in the next three to five years. |

| Requirements |
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or related field.
- Five years experience in financial reporting, general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Three years experience managing accounting operations.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
- Governmental accounting experience and experience with an integrated ERP.
- Possession of a Certified Public Accountant License.
