Accounting Manager
The Division of Accounts, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) Centralized Accounting, is responsible for managing and operating agency's financial accounting, reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and various State and Federal Grant activity functions. These activities include recording transactions and providing general ledger accounting services for financial reporting, and ensuring records in the State's Edison ERP system are accurate.  

The Division of Accounts, TWRA Accounting, is seeking an Accounting Manager that is detail oriented, has strong analytical skills, and an understanding of computer software such as spreadsheet and general ledger accounting programs to organize and report financial data.  Individual will be responsible for oversight of transactions, reports, licensing revenue activity, accounts receivables, and daily supervision of staff priorities and workflow meeting applicable State and Federal accounting deadlines. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supervise all accounting activities from journal entries in the State's Edison  system, to general ledger account reconciliations, to ensure the execution and delivery of efficient, timely and insightful monthly and annual financial closings of the agency's ledger.
  • Leads, reviews, and approves high-risk, high-volume, and/or complex transactions to ensure accurate entry.
  • Helps develop procedures to improve departmental efficiency. 
  • Assists with completing risk assessments to determine appropriateness and function of internal financial controls.
  • Monitors and evaluates assigned subordinates performance to determine additional development, training needs, and work assignment completion.  Communicate and coordinate with internal and external shareholders on weekly and monthly tasks from origination to completion.

Requirements Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting and experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time professional accounting or auditing work.

OR

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree including thirty-six quarter hours in accounting and experience equivalent to five or more years of full-time professional accounting or auditing work.

Substitution of Graduate Education for Experience: Graduate coursework credit received from an accredited college or university in accounting may substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis to a maximum of one year (e.g., 36 graduate quarter hours in the above listed field may substitute for one year of the required experience.)

OR

Designated as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and experience equivalent to three years of full-time professional accounting or auditing work.
