Auditor
As the State's independent external auditor, the Auditor General provides unbiased, timely, and relevant information that the Legislature, Florida's citizens, public entity management, and other stakeholders can use to promote government accountability and stewardship and improve government operations. The Auditor General's Office is responsible for performing financial statement audits and risk-based performance audits of State and local governments and educational entities. An Auditor performs responsible professional work in conducting financial audits, operational audits, performance audits, and other engagements at State agencies, educational entities, and local governmental units. Applicants with professional experience may be considered for a higher-level position. Individuals possessing a Certified Public Accountant certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy or qualifying work experience may be employed at above the entry level.

| Requirements |
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting and 30 semester or 45 quarter hours in excess of those required for a 4-year baccalaureate degree, meeting the educational requirements of the Florida State Board of Accountancy for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (one year of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the hours in excess of those required for a 4-year baccalaureate degree if application was made prior to August 2, 1983, to the Florida State Board of Accountancy for taking the Certified Public Accountant’s examination); or
Possession of a CPA certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy.
The minimum salary for Auditor, the entry level classification, is $52,008. There is a $4,752 annual area differential for Miami-Dade and Palm Beach county official headquarters assignments and a $1,776 annual area differential for Lee, Sarasota, Hillsborough, Orange, and St Lucie counties official headquarters assignments. Individuals possessing a Certified Public Accountant certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy or qualifying work experience may be employed at above the entry level.
