In August of 2025, we kicked off a webinar series on information technology audits. The NASACT community has a strong group of IT auditors and some of those subject matter experts walked attendees through the importance of IT audits especially given recent updates to professional standards that place a greater emphasis on information technology.
In part two of this series, the focus will be application controls. Sometimes referred to as business process controls, application controls are incorporated directly into computer applications to help ensure the validity, completeness, accuracy, and confidentiality of transactions and data. Presenters will discuss how to identify key application controls and test those controls for effectiveness.
Importantly, and of note to the broader audience, there will also be an emphasis on application controls in the context of financial audits such as a state’s annual comprehensive financial report.
Whether you're new to IT audit, an experienced professional, or somewhere in between, this session will build on the momentum of last year’s webinar to impart the importance and increasingly inseparable nature of IT, financial, and compliance audits.
