Invitation from NASACT President Greg Griffin

Dear NASACT Members and Friends,
I’m excited to be hosting the 2024 NASACT Annual Conference this August in Charlotte, North Carolina. On behalf of NASACT’s Training and Professional Development Committee and of my North Carolina co-hosts — State Auditor Jessica Holmes, State Controller Nels Roseland, and State Treasurer Dale Folwell — we invite you to attend this signature event of the Association’s training calendar.
NASACT’s annual conference provides relevant opportunities for state auditors, comptrollers, and treasurers to come together to learn and network and interact with providers of innovative services to state and local governments. As state governments continue to encounter major challenges, sharing ideas and networking with peers, standards setters, and industry leaders has never been more important.
The planning committee has been working for several months to finalize two and one-half days of high-impact sessions, including seven general sessions and 28 concurrent breakouts. We’ll kick off the conference with Mark Miller, co-founder of Lead Every Day and former VP of high-performance leadership at Chick-fil-A, who will share his expertise on attracting and retaining the best talent. Casey Kopcho, from Oregon’s Division of Audits, will explore the transformative potential of generative AI and its role in modern governance. Jim Abbot, former major league baseball pitcher, will share his extraordinary story and inspire attendees with advice on overcoming adversity. We’ll get an economic update from North Carolina State University’s Dr. Michael Walden. And we’ll end the conference general sessions on leadership and our always-popular Emerging Issues Roundtable.
We have some special networking opportunities lined up as well, including events at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers. A two-day program for guests rounds out the event, providing them with local tours of the Queen City and a visit to the Wing Haven Garden and Bird Sanctuary.
Nicknamed the Queen City, Charlotte offers a friendly, diverse community of locals, attractions and activities for the curious visitor. With a thriving arts community, an innovative food scene, natural beauty and metropolitan offerings, Charlotte will provide an exciting backdrop for our annual conference.
And don’t forget: NASACT members in good standing (or their designees) are eligible to receive up to $1,500 to attend this conference. We sincerely hope you’ll take advantage of this travel assistance to join us this summer.
We look forward to seeing you in Charlotte to experience everything the city has to offer and to connect and collaborate with fellow friends, colleagues and peers.
