NASC Holds 44th Annual Conference in Denver

President Bob Jaros, state controller of Colorado, recently welcomed association members and corporate partners to Denver for the 44th annual conference of the National Association of State Comptrollers. The conference was held at the Embassy Suites Downtown and was attended by nearly 200 members, corporate partners, and other government affiliates.

The conference was preceded by meetings of NASACT’s Executive Committee, NASC’s Executive Committee, the Committee on Financial Reporting and Accounting and several user groups.

At the annual business meeting, NASC voted in the new Executive Committee for 2025-26:

  • President: Rob Hamilton, Oregon
  • Vice President: Kathleen Baxter, Alabama
  • Secretary/Treasurer: Bill McNamara, Massachusetts
  • Immediate Past President: Bob Jaros, Colorado
  • Philip Olsen, Nebraska
  • Gerlda Hines, Georgia
  • Heather Boyd, Michigan
  • Joe McDaniel, Kentucky

NASACT Executive Director Kinney Poynter, was recognized with the Louis B. Goldstein Leadership Award for his long and distinguished career and his contributions to government.   Marsha Stansfield from Michigan received a Special Recognition Award.
 
     
 
The roundtable sessions are among the most popular at the conference.   Roundtable discussions gave members an opportunity to ask direct questions of peers and discuss various issues.
 

Awards & Resolutions

At the conference banquet held on Wednesday, March 19, President Jaros presented several awards:
  • Kinney Poynter, NASACT's executive director, received NASC’s highest honor, the Louis L. Goldstein Distinguished Leadership Award; Kinney is set to retire from NASACT effective March 31, 2025.
  • Mike Corricelli, chief of accounts in Tennessee, received the President's Award for his service on NASC's Executive Committee and for serving as co-chair of the Leases Standard Implementation Work Group. Mike is also set to retire effective March 31.
  • Marsha Stansfield, statewide procurement card administrator in the state of Michigan, received a Special Recognition Award recognizing her leadership as a co-chair of the Travel and P-Card information sharing group.

One resolution was approved during the conference:
  • Thanking President Jaros for his service as NASC's president.
