Award Information and Criteria

NASACT President's Award
This award is given at the discretion of the president of NASACT to recognize exceptional service to the association. The president of NASACT chooses recipients and awards are presented at the Association's Annual Conference.

NSAA Excellence In Accountability Awards
The NSAA Excellence In Accountability Awards are given to recognize outstanding performance audits and special projects performed by NSAA offices. Awards are given in two categories -- the Performance Audit and Special Projects. Multiple awards may be given in each category. Only NSAA member offices may participate, and only audit reports issued and special projects completed during the most recent calendar year will be accepted. Award winners will be recognized at the NSAA annual conference. Click to see letter of invitation, guidelines and entry form.

NASC Outstanding Project Award
In 1997, NASC instituted a program to recognize outstanding projects in state financial management undertaken by offices performing the comptroller function in state government.  While the original emphasis was on the presentation of awards, the intent was also to gather and publicize good projects in state comptrollers’ offices.

The new focus in 2006 is the ongoing sharing of good ideas in state comptrollers’ offices.  NASC’s Committee on Innovations and Best Practices invites submissions any time of projects which have increased the efficiency or effectiveness of comptroller operations.  Submissions will be reviewed by NASC staff and then publicized in the monthly NASACT News and posted on this Web site.

Projects which are submitted for the award should:

  • Address an essential aspect of financial management in the public sector;
  • Have been operational for at least three months before the submission;
  • Include a replicable functionality or business application as part of the complete project; and
  • Be expected to achieve significant success in meeting its stated objectives on an annualized or projected basis.

After the end of each calendar year, the CIBP will consider which submissions, if any, merit the exceptional recognition of an award.  Any awards will be presented at NASC’s annual conference in March.
