Early in 1998 the NECCC alliance was formed to promote the ongoing cooperation and coordination among states and the private sector regarding the issues about electronic commerce. The purpose of the alliance was to build upon the success of the 1997 Conference on Electronic Commerce in the States.

The NECCC draws from a unique pool of professionals who are in a strategic position to advance the progress of electronic commerce within state government and the public sector. Aligned with its private-sector partners, the members of NECCC stand on the leading edge of electronic commerce developments.
