The National Association
of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers originated in Washington,
DC at the Hotel Raleigh late in the fall of 1915. At that time,
a group of state auditors and comptrollers came together and decided
to institute an annual meeting for state governmental finance
officials from around the country.
Over the years, NASACT
has grown both in terms of size and significance. Today the organization
takes an active national leadership role by serving as a major
resource for state government officials. The membership is comprised
of statewide elected and duly appointed officials having the positions
of auditor, comptroller and treasurer.
As established by NASACT's
Constitution and Bylaws, an Executive Committee governs the operations
of the organization. The committee is elected from the membership
annually and is comprised of a President, Vice President, Second
Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past-President,
and nine other members including three auditors, three comptrollers
and three treasurers. Additionally, NASACT is served by members
who participate on various committees.
