About NASACT


MISSION

Assist state leaders to enhance and promote effective and efficient management of governmental resources.


GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Goal #1: Government financial management practices are efficient and effective.

Objectives:
Identify and work to accomplish special projects to facilitate intergovernmental cooperation and improve financial management practices at all levels of government, both domestically and abroad.
Establish relationships with peer organizations and private sector companies to promote cooperation and understanding among all government finance stakeholders.

Serve as the administrative agent for other like-minded organizations of government professionals when the opportunity to do so presents itself.
Act as a leading advocate for the timely disclosure of government financial-related information.


Goal #2: State auditors, comptrollers and treasurers are performing at the highest levels of industry expertise and excellence.

Objectives:
Plan conferences and training opportunities to address topics that are current and relevant to the professional responsibilities of the attendees.
Utilize technology to provide new, low-cost training options.
Facilitate the development of resources and the implementation of initiatives that enhance information sharing and effective communication among staff in member offices.
Support conferences and training efforts that target state auditors, state comptrollers, state treasurers, and members of NASACT's peer organizations.


Goal #3:
NASACT is recognized as a leading and influential voice on state fiscal matters.

Objectives:
Market NASACT's conferences, services and training opportunities to increase awareness of the Association's offerings.
Distribute relevant information to appropriate media outlets and peer organizations to increase awareness of the Association's activities and gain exposure for NASACT's timely, relevant contributions to the state government finance arena.
Seek to recruit new members and involve existing members in NASACT's activities.
Respond to the changing government financial management industry by enhancing efforts to offer valuable, quality service to members.


Goal #4: NASACT members are aware of emerging issues and their impacts.

Objectives:
Keep members informed through association publications.
Stay abreast of current and emerging issues impacting the states and provide NASACT representation in groups that address identified issues.
Develop consensus positions to provide input to standards-setting bodies and to seek legislative changes as necessary.
